Hey, it's Glen again.
Apparently, this blogging thing can be pretty time intensive. You get busy, let something slide for a few days, and then WHAMO! You're two or three full weeks behind schedule.
So, I'm helping play catch-up.
If I'm reading Nicole's notations correctly, we left off on day 43. But nothing really happened on day 43 or 44. I think maybe we watched Jesse. Ugh. Nobody likes you Jesse (see prior post). Oh, and I guess we watched Reilly. He's the dog that Nicole walks the most. Three times a day, most of the week. He’s a lot of fun and a real cutie.
Unlike Jesse. Who is terrible.
Anyway—
Day 45 and 46
I'm combining these two days into one because, on these days, someone came into our lives, someone that changed Nicole and I. Changed us forever.
His name is Biggie Smalls.
Nicole is not really a dog-person. She doesn't hate them or anything, but she has just never wanted to own one. Mostly she feels that they're like babies that never grow up—you're always picking up their poop, always trying to figure out what they're whining about, finding someone to babysit them, running home to let them out of their cages. Just like babies.
And all the dog walking she’s been doing this summer has only solidified her general feeling of canine exasperation.
But Biggie is different. Why? Maybe it’s because he’s so little! He’s a toy maltese and all he wants to do is sit in your lap and love you. In that way, he’s probably more like a fun cat. He’ll wander around on our lap, walk over your computer, get up in your face, and then just lay on top of you. In fact, he does a lot of lying around. And so did we.
Here are some shots of Biggie Smalls cuddling up to Nicole while she sleeps.
Of course, Day 46 was also important because it was the 4th of July! The 4th of July is Nicole's favorite holiday, so we tried to involve ourselves in as many of the festivities as possible.
To begin the day, Nicole and I woke up and took a run into town to watch the parade!
And the parade was great! Lots of costumed fife and drum corps, floats, and bands. It was nothing compared to Provo's 4th of July parade, but it sufficed. Also, the roads here are like 1/3 the size of the ones in Provo so they were kind of limited there.
Later in the day, we went back into the city where Philadelphia was hosting a concert and bazaar.
This part was okay except for the fact that it was like a million degrees outside. But we got to walk around together, eat some food, and wear some super cool (free) sunglasses. That’s right. Look at those cool cats.
But it kept getting hotter and hotter. Look at that misery.
So, in the end, we came home and were greeted by something that was better than any firework show.
Boom.
Okay, so the rest of the week involved walking quite a few dogs. Now seemed like a good time to make a list of all the dogs Nicole walks so here they are:
Lily
Lainey
Simon
Reilly
Miss B
Jesse
And of course, Biggie Smalls.
And lastl on our list of events for the week, we went to another Steven Starr restaurant called El Rey. It was really, really good! My food had an over easy egg on it! MMMM!.
Well . . . that was our week 7! Stay tuned for more!
