Hey everyone!
Week 2 wasn't too exciting EXCEPT for the weekend, which made up for the so-so week. So here's a rundown:
Day 14: This was such a great day. When my friends and co-workers threw me a goodbye party they got me a touring book about Philadelphia. Glen and I decided to take one of the suggested tours, and we did not regret it. Of course we added some variation to it, but all in all it was a wonderful day. We started out by grabbing breakfast two blocks from our place to Federal Donuts. I agree, it's a terrible name, but it's on Federal Street so the name seems to make a little more sense. They are absolutely famous here for their donuts, and we're lucky enough to live right down the street. They are open until 3 pm or sell out everyday, and they usually do, around 11:00 am. They sell three things: Donuts, Coffee, and Chicken.
Whhatt? Chicken? That's right. Just chicken. It's Korean-Style chicken, whatever that means, and basically they fry it and season it with all kinds of stuff. We haven't tried it yet, but can't wait.
But back to our visit, we got six donuts, the following are the flavors we got:
Mango-Chili
Pomegranate Nutella
Strawberry Rhubarb
Chocolate Banana
Appolonia Spice
Indian Cinnamon
They. Were. Amazing.

We visited where Benjamin Franklin's house used to stand. They have these white poles that outline where it used to be
Christ's Church is the church George Washington attended, and William Penn was baptized here.
This was George Washington's Pew
To finish of our day, we headed to The Reading (pronounced "redding") Terminal Market. Basically, it's the best thing ever. It's a huge marketplace with tons of vendors. Some sell fresh produce, some sell food, some sell freshly squeezed juices--and it's all delicious. Okay, we haven't tried it all, but we've already been twice, and can't wait to return. We started out with some amazing pretzels. Yes, to the left are Mennonites making them, so they HAVE to be delicious.
If you look beyond the fountain you can see Glen's building!
We also got to see a bike race! (Unexpectedly, of course. They wouldn't let us cross the street until it was over.)
And then on the drive home we enjoyed looking at the lovely buildings in Philadelphia, driving by Boathouse Row and the East State Penitentiary.

(Why does it seem we are always posting pictures of us eating donuts? Oh well...)
After "breakfast" we headed over to Independence Hall to see where The Declaration of Independence was signed.
And to Benjamin Franklin's Grave

We visited where Benjamin Franklin's house used to stand. They have these white poles that outline where it used to be
This was George Washington's Pew
There was some debate as to whether or not Betsey Ross actually lived here (and whether or not she even sewed the first flag) but it was still fun to check it out.
Yes, that is a fake cat. And Glen is petting it.
This is Elfreth's Alley. It is the longest continuously inhabited street in the United States. It is absolutely darling.
And then here are some more pictures just walking back to our car
We went home to relax for a few minutes, and then we headed out again to a Flea Market that was just 3 blocks away from us.
I found this little woven purse and I loved it. Glen let me buy it!

And here are some random shots of the market.
Day 15: Today we visited our church, which was not in a chapel, but in some sort of office building. We are in the South Philly Branch and it is so small compared to our ward in Austin. The group of people there are so diverse, we can't wait to meet everyone. Glen and I met a few couples our age, most of them were med students. Relief Society was TINY. I counted 10 women. From what we could tell, there were only 3-5 primary age kids, if that. Anyway, it was just so different. We had a good time meeting everyone though.
After church, Glen and I went to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Usually it's $16 per person, but on the first Sunday of every month it's free! We thought it would be a nice Sunday activity.

Tonight we are heading to Washington D.C. for the weekend! I can already tell we are going to have a great time. I'll update in a few days!
