Boy Oh Boy

Hello friends and family!

I really need to get better at this blogging thing. It's not even that I feel like I have to, I really LIKE blogging, but my A.D.D. causes me to get distracted with other projects and events and I forget that I like blogging so much.

Also, Glen and I are super busy being ward missionaries! We love it! I am meeting so many great people and am learning how to teach and be more comfortable bearing my testimony and talking about what I believe in. It's really neat. I am also learning about the frustrations of being a missionary, and I have so much more respect for missionaries now! It's so hard not to get disappointed when something doesn't work out or someone changes their mind so I admire the missionaries who stay positive and don't get down on themselves.

And as most of you now know, I am pregnant! We went "public" just a couple weeks ago so things have started to feel more real. We kept quiet about it for quite a while, something I'll probably blog about at some point, but we are happy that so many people expressed their excitement. We are having a little boy! I come from a family of mostly girls, so I am kind of scared to death of raising a boy, but I'm hoping I figure it out and my awesome friends who also have boys can give me some pointers! You know who you are!

So, I was kinda bummed that I didn't get to have a fun "gender reveal" party to tell my family what we were having, so I decided to make my family have one and skype with us! I called up my talented friend Nicole Campbell, owner of Mmm Cake Co. , to see if she could whip up some fun cupcakes for the party! After our ultrasound I called Nicole and told her what we were having! It was exciting because it was the first time I had said the words "We are having a boy!" She was thrilled and came up with an awesome design for cupcakes and filled them with blue filling.

My family waited a full 48 hours until having the party. They were really patient which we were grateful for. My sister Kelsey picked up the cupcakes and then connected with us on skype. Kelsey made some simple decorations and lips and mustaches for everyone to declare what their guesses were. It was so much fun to watch, even if it was on the computer.  Here are some pictures taken by the wonderful Lauren Faber, one of my sister's BFFs:

And here are the correct guessers:

And the losers (not really :)):

That's me Kelsey is carrying around!

It's a boy! Now all Kelsey's dreams of adorning the baby in bows has been crushed!!

Hooray! It was an excellent party and we were happy to be there via skype. Thanks again to Nicole Campbell from Mmm Cake Co. and Lauren Faber for taking awesome pics!

  1. That is incredible!! What a special moment, brought to us by modern technology! How sweet that you can be so close when you're far apart. My siblings and I could take a note from you. :)
